We are proud and excited about the So. Maryland, So Good (SMSG) logo and marketing campaign and all that it implies.
SMSG was created to benefit everyone who grows, purchases, processes, or sells Southern Maryland farm products.
SMSG allows consumers to have a choice. By assuring consumers that the products or services they purchase are truly “Southern Maryland” they know they are helping to preserve their neighboring farms and Southern Maryland’s rich agricultural tradition.
SMSG Restaurants, Caterers, Stores, Institutions and other retail venues voluntarily participate in the So. Maryland, So Good marketing campaign. In so doing, they recognize the value of the SMSG logo and all that it implies.
Consumers prefer to buy local. SMSG is a way to take advantage of your local market and your customer’s desire for freshness and quality. If you choose to use the SMSG logo to enhance the value of local farm products that you offer in menu selections, or broker, or sell you are agreeing to the expectations set forth below:
The SMSG logo is available for the marketing and promotion of genuine, quality farm products (produce, dairy, wine, meats, seafood, fiber, trees, plants, herbs, etc.) produced in the five counties of Southern Maryland only (Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Prince George’s, St. Mary’s).
If any portion of a menu item features a Southern Maryland farm product it may carry the
SMSG logo. For example: a salad that includes Southern Maryland tomatoes and onions is eligible.
In the case of processed foods used in recipes, at least 51% of the item must be made with Southern Maryland farm products.
Periodically, we ask you to complete a follow up survey to evaluate the campaign.
