SMSG was created to benefit everyone who grows, purchases or processes Southern Maryland farm products, or provides a genuine Southern Maryland farm service.
SMSG allows consumers to have a choice. By assuring consumers that the products or services they purchase are truly "Southern Maryland" they know they are helping to preserve their neighboring farms and the rich agricultural tradition that so typifies Southern Maryland.
SMSG farms voluntarily participate in the So. Maryland, So Good marketing campaign. In so doing, they recognize the value of the SMSG logo and all that it implies. If you choose to use the SMSG logo and promotional materials to enhance the value of your farm products or services you are agreeing to the expectations set forth below:
The SMSG logo, labels, banners and other promotional materials can only be used with Southern Maryland farm products or services.
At farm stands and farmer's markets where some products are grown in Southern Maryland and some are not, the banner may be displayed only if SMSG promotional materials are used to differentiate the genuine Southern Maryland products.
Only use the SMSG logo with products that are high quality and fresh. The logo symbolizes high quality products grown in Southern Maryland.
In the case of processed foods, the SMSG logo may be used when atleast 51% of the item contains Southern Maryland farm products. For example, sausage processed at a butcher shop in Southern Maryland must contain at least 51% pork that was raised in Southern Maryland.
The SMSG campaign is dependent on an honor system and the integrity of its users. Please comply with the expectations; failure to do so may result in the loss of the privilege to use the SMSG logo.
Periodically, you will be asked to complete a follow-up survey to evaluate the SMSG campaign and provide input on ways to improve our services and document success.
